The Busiest May
May 2025 was one of the busiest months I’ve had in ages, with two major (and exciting!) family events happening: my grandmother’s 90th birthday and my sister’s wedding!
First, my grandmother turned 90 and to celebrate we had a family gathering on Cape Cod for a long weekend. Many of the family were able to make it: her 8 surviving children, 13 of her grandchildren, and 1 of her great grandchildren were all there. Even her 2 sisters and some of their kids came out from Ireland for it! My grandmother had a blast, and we all agreed that it was so special to spend time as a big group; the last time we had a larger family gathering was right before COVID.
My sister then got married at the end of the month. Nobody watches the weather as closely as a bridal party anticipating an outdoor wedding with no backup location if it rains. For the last 2 weeks of May, I watched as the weather apps repeatedly got the weather wrong while also correctly predicting rain almost every weekend day (why does it always rain on the weekends!?). I’m happy to report that although we did have light rain, we didn’t need to pull out umbrellas during the ceremony and the whole event was beautiful. I’ve never seen a bride and groom enjoy their wedding as much as my sister and her husband did!
Now, for a few days of calm in June before a newborn joins in on the fun!
