Chewy

As many of you now know I like to recount retail events when a business provides an exceptional experience.  We no longer have to shop for baseball gear or other recreational equipment for the kids, but we have our dog Benjamin to thank for maintaining our discretionary spending.

There was a local pet supply store that we loved; ‘Especially for Pets’.  You were always met with a friendly “hello” and politely asked if you needed help finding anything.  Their employees were very knowledgeable and there was usually one of the employees’ dogs “helping out” in the store.  Unfortunately, they closed and with only the big chain stores as options we needed to find a new source for squeak toys, dog treats and all items dog related.

My sister had mentioned using Chewy.com for her cat supplies so we thought we would give it a try.  We were looking for heartworm medicine for Benjamin to see if their prices were lower.  Since this required a prescription their online system asked for the name of our vet. Once we provided the info they contacted the vet to confirm the prescription and within a short time the medicine was on its way.  The prices are very competitive, deliveries are within 48 hours, and they make every step of the shopping process easy.  My kids would say Chewy makes it too easy with how I spoil the dog (guilty as charged). They also emphasize improving the lives of pets by donating to animal shelters.  So they make working with them easy, have reasonable prices, and they give back to the community.  So we are now raving fans.
