Preschool
It was a big day in our house recently – Briana started preschool.
We were cautiously optimistic that she would really like it. She’s very busy and imaginative, and over the last several months has become a lot more interested in playing with other kids. She also has 5 older cousins (all girls!) who are now in school or preschool and could tell her how much fun it would be.
Nevertheless, there were definitely some nerves for us parents leading up to the big day. Briana was very excited about the whole process, from putting on a brand-new dress to wearing her backpack. She happily walked in and afterward told us what a great time she had. I was just as nervous for the second day, as sometimes kids can react more to that, when they realize this is a recurring thing and not just a one-time activity. But she was happy to go again and really hasn’t looked back since.
We just went to a parents night the preschool hosted and were very curious to hear what Briana has been up to. She always says she had fun and will mention a little of what they did that day, but never in too much detail. Her teachers all told us how well she is doing and what a smooth adjustment it was, and I have to say hearing that was one of my prouder parenting moments. We got to see some of her artwork and hear some songs they sing. We had a good chuckle seeing that most of their schedule has activities for only 15 minutes – perfect for 3-year-old attention spans.
Overall, it’s been a wonderful experience, and probably a harder adjustment for us than it was for her – and we wouldn’t want it any other way!
