Truro
What do you get when you put 6 girls under the age of 10 on the beach together? Tired kids and parents, sure, but also a whole lot of fun and memories.
If you’ve been reading my articles for a while, you may recall that we go to Truro every year with my in laws. This year we were lucky enough to have my brother-in-law and his family from London join us, putting all the cousins together, which doesn’t happen nearly as often as we’d like.
We ate s’mores, ice cream, and lots of seafood. There was sand burying, glowsticks, and plenty of swimming. We saw lots of seals but luckily no sharks. We took our second ever boat ride, which Briana really liked until she got bored and started asking to go back with 10 minutes left. An unexpected highlight was when we dug a deep hole on the beach, then a little tunnel that let the ocean water slowly fill it up with each wave.
It’s been fun to see the progression of how much more Briana can do each year, starting when she was 2 months old and of course couldn’t do anything. This year the beach playing was more focused and imaginative. We were much more adventurous in the water. And she’s always adored her older cousins, but this time around she could keep up with them much better, both physically and mentally.
It was another fun week that all of us, especially Briana, will remember fondly for a long time. It’s just too bad we have to wait another year to do it again!
